Just keeping my finger's crossed

Been a long time since my last post .
Things that have happened since Oct. 2010.
At Mankato Marathon I felt a acute pain in lower right heal around the 11 mile mark. Ankle sort of went funny on me. I almost quit there, but did the "STUPID" and kept on going to the finsh.
BAD BAD BAD judgement error I made. Blew my Achilles Tendon to pieces.
So my running is at this time VERY gentle if any  since  last Oct.
I swirled into a dark deep hole  when my doctor told me I would not be able to return to running for 18 months, yep that's like  yr. 2012.
Then came along late Dec. and  I stumbled upon a running bike  that lets your run and still get a great work-out with no joint pounding. It's called   "ELLIPTIGO  BIKE"( It's a bike that you run on to make it go)    Placed my order, recieved in early Jan. and have been pounding out 3-4 hour work-outs on it 2-3 times a week.
Started to EASE back into running again, Only this time I know when to stop.  My  long runs now end when my heal starts to go numb. Last Sat. it was at 13 miles, yesterday it was at 4 miles.  So basically all my training done with running is on my Elliptigo bike. (except 2 times a week I go outside on the streets)
So my outlook is aiming for Trailmix 50k  in April. That's my first goal run this year.   Only shooting for a finish not a time. Then we'll see how I feel after that if this even happens in April.
The Elliptigo I feel has been  my savior.  Lets me do lots of long runs, no pounding on the feet , and no flexing of my Achilles Tendon until it firmly attaches itself back to where it belongs.
In just a few minutes when done here, i'm spending the remaining Friday night running away on my ElliptiGo bike till I get tired and go to bed. Shooting for 4 hours or 60 miles completed, which ever comes first.
As for the healing, still hurts like crap, mornings are the worst. I've been wearing a night splint boot on it at night-awkward thing even more for my wife.       Jumping on it is a no,no,  but have gradually and SLOWLY progressed my way back to running ever so slowly again. Trailmix give it maybe a 30%  chance of being on the starting line .
 Just keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!
